Korey Fischer Outdoor Club

Korey grew up in Appleton and attended Johnston Elementary School, Madison Middle School and Appleton East High School. He was an avid soccer player, sang in the men’s choir and was voted “Sam Patriot,” the school’s mascot, his senior year. From a young age, Korey’s family encouraged his natural love of the outdoors and spent many hours with him as he learned to hunt and fish. He became a skilled outdoorsman and developed a special interest in waterfowl hunting. Korey was proud of his ability to call and identify ducks from a distance and happy when  he took time to share his knowledge about fishing and hunting with others. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his friends, family, and his Creator in the field. “It’s not all about the hunting part,” Korey once said. “Sometimes it’s just the surrounding environment and the friends that make it worthwhile.”

Korey is remembered as a dedicated friend, son, husband, and father.  He met his wife while earning his undergraduate degree at UWSP. They were blessed to spend 27 years together and even more blessed to become the proud parents of an incredible daughter. Korey’s presence is missed by many.

His family has chosen to honor his life by establishing the Korey Fischer Outdoor Club Fund within the Appleton Education Foundation. With your help, the Fund will offer financial support for the club at Appleton East and allow all students, no matter their economic level, to participate in hunting and fishing as well as other outdoor activities that encourage a love of nature.

Korey’s family wishes to thank the staff, volunteers, and donors who have helped with the creation of the memorial, as well as those who continue to volunteer by sharing their time and talents with youth in the field.  We are grateful for each generous donation, allowing Korey’s legacy of love and friendship to live on through the Korey Fischer Outdoor Club.
