2020 Spring Grants – more than $10,000 awarded

The Appleton Education Foundation board of directors approved grants totaling more than $10,000 to support creative programs and projects that enhance the education of Appleton Area School District students.

Eight projects are receiving funding. Funding comes from four funds within the AEF: Appleton Education Foundation Endowment Fund, John Mielke and Sally Morey Mielke Education Fund, Vira and Alan Stoner Education Fund and SAACC Endowment Fund.

Districtwide

$2,000 to bring Matt Perk (Youtube: Blind to Billionaire) to Appleton to inspire students who are blind/low-vision and their families.

$750 for a summer school program for English language learning students (ages 0-4) and their parents.

Appleton West

$2,000 for leadership training for student-athletes.

Columbus Elementary

$830 for a sensory/mindfulness space.

Edison Elementary

$2,000 to build an ADA accessible gaga ball pit. Gaga ball is a fast paced, high energy sport played in an octagonal pit.

Einstein Middle

$2,000 to help build 12 raised garden beds for the school’s Marilyn Spieth Outdoor Classroom and Garden. This is one piece of a larger project to create a new outdoor space for the school and community.

Foster Elementary

$700 for access to a special website and support of an after-school book club.

Kaleidoscope Academy

$640 to help students create a demonstration butterfly garden. This is a project in collaboration with Wild Ones of the Fox Valley, Erb Park Neighborhood Association and Butterfly Garden of the Fox Valley.
