Many Appleton Area School District alumni attribute their successes to the solid education received while attending Appleton schools. In return, alumni feel it is important to give current and future AASD students the same support they received. Some funds within the Appleton Education Foundation were created by alumni to support specific AASD schools and areas of interest.
The funds listed below are just a few ways graduates of AASD are giving back through the AEF.
To give to one of these funds, visit our secure giving page hosted by the Community Foundation. In the comments section, type the name of the fund. Undesignated gifts will be used to support the overall work of the AEF.
AWHS Class of 1941 Fund
This fund supports creative projects and programs for students at Appleton West High School. The class of 1941 began this fund in 2006. Since 2008, the endowment has granted nearly $5,000 to fund creative projects at Appleton West, including author visits, a book club and a U.S. History project. The fund also has supported projects the Class of ’41 would never have dreamed about when they were in high school, including a student-built computer and a student-built 3-D printer.
AHSW-1964-50th Year Scholarship Fund
Founded in 2004 in honor of the class’s 40th reunion, classmates began raising money to provide scholarships to the Appleton West class of 2014. To commemorate the 50th reunion, more than $10,000 in scholarships will be available to graduating seniors.
Appleton West High School Class of ’45 Fund
This fund was established in 2005 to support the cost of Academic Achievement Awards given annually to students at Appleton West High School.
When members of the class of 1959 celebrated their 50th reunion, they also initiated a fund to support their alma mater. Since then, more than $25,000 has been granted to Appleton West High School to support adding SMART boards to each classroom.
